
Ewe (Eʋe)
The Ewe language (Eʋe) is spoken by around 20 million individuals in West Africa, predominantly in Ghana, Togo, and Benin.
Ewe is a tonal language, where the significance of a word shifts based on its pronunciation pitch or musical height. For example, the term "bu" means "respect" when pronounced with a low pitch, but means "lose" when pronounced with a high pitch.
